Ingredients:

• 1 cup – Cabbage, shredded thinly
• 1 cup – Sona Masoori Rice/Long Grain Rice/Basmati Rice
• 2 – Green chillies, slit lengthwise
• 1 – Onion, sliced thin lengthwise
• 1-inch piece – Cinnamon stick
• 2-3 – Cloves
• 1/4 tsp – Jeera/Cumin seeds
• 1/2 tsp – Ginger-garlic paste
• 1/2 tsp – Haldi/Turmeric powder
• 1 tsp – Coriander powder
• 2 cups – Water
• Salt to taste
• 2 tbsp + 1 tsp – Oil
• 2 tbsp – Lemon juice

Method:

  1. Wash and soak rice for 15 mins.
  2. In a pressure cooker, add 2 tbsp oil.
  3. Once hot add cloves, cinnamon and cumin seeds.
  4. Now add ginger-garlic paste and fry till its rawness is gone.
  5. Saute once and now add in the onions and saute again till translucent.
  6. Once done, add green chillies and mix again.
  7. Now add cabbage and then add turmeric powder and fry for a few minutes.
  8. Now add rice to it and fry well again for another 2-3 minutes.
  9. Now add coriander powder and mix well.
  10. Now add water, salt to taste, 1 tsp of oil and lemon juice to it and close the lid and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  11. Once done, let the cooker cool down and serve.
