Ingredients:

• Channa dal – 2 cups
• Onions – 1 medium, chopped finely
• Green chillies – 4 chopped
• Red Chillies – 3
• Ginger – 1 inch piece
• Curry leaves – a little
• Coriander – 1/2 cup chopped
• Aniseed – 1 tsp
• Garam Masala powder – 1 tsp
• Salt to taste
• Oil – to deep fry.

Method:

  1. Soak the channa dal overnight.
  2. Then grind it with all the ingredients (except onions) to a coarse paste.
  3. Add onions to the paste.
  4. Heat oil for deep frying. Shape the mixture into vadas and deep fry till golden brown.
  5. Serve hot with chutney.
