
Ingredients:
• 3 – medium-sized mackerels
• 3 – medium-sized onions, chopped finely
• 2 – tomatoes, chopped
• 2 tsp – chilli powder
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 2 tsp – Vinegar
• 2 tsp – cumin powder
• 1 tsp – coriander powder
• 1 tsp – Ginger and Garlic paste
• 2 – green chillies, slit lengthwise
• 3 tbsp – oil
• salt
Method:
- Clean and remove the scales, fins and insides of the mackerels.
- Marinate it with a pinch of salt and turmeric powder for 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a flat pan and shallow fry the fish on both sides till they are evenly brown in colour.
- Remove and keep it aside.
- Heat a little more oil in the same pan and saute the onions till they are light brown in colour.
- Add the ginger, garlic paste, tomatoes, chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt and vinegar and fry it on low heat till the tomatoes are pulpy.
- Add one cup of water and bring it to a boil.
- Add the mackerels and green chillies and mix it gently.
- Simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes till the fish absorbs the flavours.
- Serve it with rice or bread.
