Ingredients:
• 1 cup – besan
• 1 cup – Rice flour
• 1 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1/2 tsp – salt
• 1/4 tsp – Asafoetida
• 1/2 cup – water (to make dough)
• 250 ml -oil
Method:
- In a bowl, mix rice flour, besan, red chilli powder, salt and hing together.
- Add 1/2 cup of water and make a soft dough. Sprinkle extra 1 – 2 tbsp of water if required to make a soft dough.
- Heat oil in a deep pan on high heat. Reduce the heat to medium. Place a big seeval kattai over it. The dough is slid up and down on the board and small flakes fall into the oil below.
- The flat and small ribbon-like pieces are deep fried till they turn golden brown in colour. Drain it out from the oil and place it on a kitchen towel so it absorbs the extra oil.
