Ingredients:

• 1 or 2 – Drumsticks
• 1/4 cup – moong dal
• 1 tsp – sambar powder
• 1/4 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 – Tomato (chopped)
• 2-3 pinches – asafetida powder
• salt as needed
• To grind: 1/2 cup – Coconut (grated)
• 1/4 tsp – Rice flour
• To temper: 1 tsp – mustard
• 1 tsp – Urad Dal
• 1 tsp – cumin
• 1 sprig – Curry leaves
• 1 tbsp – chopped Shallots
• 2-3 pinches -asafetida
• 2 tsp – oil

Method:

  1. Cut the drumsticks into long pieces.
  2. Boil moong dal with tomato, turmeric, sambar powder. When half done, add the drumstick pieces and salt.
  3. Or else, pressure-cook the ingredients (up to 2 whistles).
  4. Grind coconut and rice flour with a little water and add to the cooked drumsticks and moong dal mixture and boil.
  5. Heat oil and temper with all the items listed. Brown the onions well and mix into the drumstick curry.
  6. Serve it with rice.
