Ingredients:

• 1 cup – Channa dal
• 1/2 cup – Moong dal
• 1/2 cup – Masoor dal
• 1/4 cup – Urad Dal
• 1/4 cup – Tur dal
• 2 tbsp – Coriander seeds
• 2 tbsp – Cumin seeds
• Half inch Ginger
• 5 to 6 Cloves – Garlic
• 1/2 cup – Coriander leaves or fresh Spinach chopped
• 3-4 – Medium sized hot Green chillies
• Salt to taste
• A pinch of baking soda
• Oil for deep frying

Method:

  1. Wash dals and soak them separately.
  2. Make smooth paste of ginger, garlic, green chillies, coriander seeds and cumin seeds.
  3. Grind the soaked dals into a coarse paste.
  4. Mix it with the ginger-garlic-chilli paste, add salt and a pinch of baking soda.
  5. Add chopped spinach or coriander leaves to it.
  6. Heat oil in pan or kadai.
  7. Make small balls or drop with small spoon into preheated oil and fry till light brown.
  8. Serve hot with tomato ketchup or fresh ground mango chutney.
