Ingredients:

• 800 gms – Mutton
• 1 small carton of plain Yoghurt (150 gms -)
• 4 tsp – crushed Garlic
• 4 tsp – grated Ginger
• 5 tbsp – tandoori powder
• 1 tsp – chilli powder
• 1 tbsp – oil
• 250 gms – peeled, chopped Tomatoes
• 1 tbsp – Tomato puree
• 2 tsp – coriander powder
• Salt to taste
• Oil for frying
• 1 large onion, sliced

Method:

  1. Marinade the mutton in a mixture of all of the above ingredients, except for the oil and onion for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  2. Heat the oil and fry the onion until it is dark brown and looking as though it were almost burnt. Add to the marinade mixture in a large saucepan.
  3. Cover and allow it to simmer for 1 hour, until the meat is tender.
  4. Serve with naan bread and spiced rice.
