
Ingredients:
• 1 kg – lamb or Mutton with bones preferably from the breast portion
• 1 handful – masoor dal (red gram dal)
• 2 cups – Coconut Milk
• 2 tbsp – oil
• 3 – Green chillies
• 2 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1 tsp – coriander powder
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 tsp – cumin powder
• 1 tbsp – Ginger Garlic paste
• 1 tbsp – Lime juice
• Salt to taste
• 8 to 10 – Curry leaves
• 2 – medium size onions, sliced
• 2 tbsp – chopped Mint for garnishing
Method:
- Cook the meat and dal with sufficient water till tender.
- Whisk till the dal is smooth.
- Heat oil in a big pan and fry the curry leaves, green chillies and onions till slightly brown.
- Add the ginger garlic paste and saute for a few minutes.
- Now add the chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and turmeric and fry for a few minutes till the oil separates from the mixture.
- Mix in the cooked mutton and dal and mix well.
- Slowly add the coconut milk and salt to taste.
- Add 2 more cups of water and simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes.
- Remove from heat and add the lime juice.
- Garnish with mint leaves.
- Serve as a soup or with bread or rice.
