Ingredients:

• Masoor dal – 1 cup
• Onion, sliced – 1
• Juice of 1/2 Lime
• Garlic and Ginger paste – 1 tsp
• Red Chillies (ground paste) – 1 tsp
• Salt to taste
• Oil to fry

Method:

  1. Wash and soak dal.
  2. Heat oil and saute onions.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients (except lime juice) and saute them.
  4. Add dal and fry for a while. Cover with sufficient water.
  5. Add salt and simmer till dal is cooked and dry. Remove from fire.
  6. Add lime juice, and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  7. Serve as side dish for chapatis.
