Ingredients:
• Hilsa or rohu fish – 500 g
• Curds – 1/2 cup
• Chilli powder – 1 tsp
• Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
• Onion – 1 big
• Ginger – 3 cm
• Mustard oil – 4 tbsp
• Cloves – 2
• Cinnamon – 2
• Cardamom – 2
• Bay Leaf – 1
• Green chillies – 4, slit
• Coriander leaves to garnish- 1 small bunch
• Salt to taste
Method:
- Cut the cleaned fish into slices
- Apply some turmeric powder and salt to the fish and wash again
- Mix the curd with salt, chilli and turmeric powder
- Pour over the fish and marinate for 1 hour
- Grind the onion and ginger together
- Heat oil in a kadai and saute the cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and the bay leaves until light brown
- Add onion and ginger paste to it and fry well
- Now add the marinated fish
- Cover and simmer till the fish is cooked
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
