
Ingredients:
• 500 g – kingfish , cut into 2 inch fillets
• 2- medium-sized onion, chopped
• 1/4 – tsp Ginger
• 1 cup – mung beans, roasted
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 2 tbsp – Curd
• 1/2 tsp – Sugar
• Salt, as required
• Oil, as required
• Water , as required
• Ingredients for seasoning :
• 1 tsp – whole Jeera
• 2 -3 – Bay Leaves
• 2 – whole Red Chillies
• 1 tsp – Garam Masala powder
• 1 tbsp – ghee/butter
Method:
- Wash the fish and marinate with a pinch of salt and turmeric for 5 to 10 mins.
- Dry roast the mung beans, till golden.
- Pressure cook the mung beans till they are half-cooked.
- Make a paste of chopped onions and ginger.
- In a skillet, shallow fry the fish and keep it aside.
- In the same pan, add ginger, onion paste and 1 tsp turmeric and fry for a minute.
- Add curd, sugar and salt and fry all the ingredients.
- Add half-cooked mung beans, and sufficient water.
- Add fish pieces and cook till the mung and fish are cooked.
- In another pan, heat 1 tbsp ghee/butter, and roast jeera and the rest of the ingredients.
- Add the seasoning on the fish curry, and mix well.
- Serve hot with rice.
