Ingredients:

• Brinjal – 4
• Toor Dal – 1/2 cup
• Split green gram – 1/4 cup
• Onions – 2 medium
• Tomatoes – 1 medium
• Tamarind extract – 1/2 cup
• Salt to taste
• Red Chillies – 5
• Coriander seeds – 2 tbsp
• Chana dal – 1 tbsp
• Urad Dal – 1 tbsp
• Cumin seeds – 2 tsp

Method:

  1. In a pressure cooker, mix everything except tamarind and cook with 3 cups of water.
  2. Let it cool.
  3. Powder coriander, chana dal and urad dal.
  4. Add salt and mash well.
  5. Add the ground powder and tamarind juice.
  6. Bring it to boil and then simmer.
  7. Splutter mustard in 3 tsps oil and add cumin seeds, urad dal, 2 red chillies crushed with fingers, curry leaves.
  8. Pour this seasoning into the mixture in the pan.
