• 4 – karelas
• 1 tbsp – Garlic paste (or 2-3 pods of Garlic)
• A few Curry leaves (kadipatta)
• Salt to taste
• Oil to fry
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder


  1. Scrape the karelas and cut them into thin slices. Add 1 tsp salt and mix well. Set aside for 30 mins.
  2. Then wash and squeeze out the excess water.
  3. In a kadai, put oil and sprinkle the kadipatta leaves on it.
  4. Add the garlic and fry for a second.
  5. Add the karela slices, salt and turmeric powder.
  6. Fry till the slices are tender.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
