Ingredients:

• 2 large – Pomfrets or any other fish cut into pieces
• 2 tbsp – Gram flour
• 6 – Green chillies
• 1 tsp – Cumin
• 1 bunch – Fresh Coriander leaves
• 1 tbsp – Tamarind
• 1/2 cup – Sweet oil
• 6 – Red Chillies
• 1/2 pod – Garlic
• 1 tbsp – Dry coriander (dhania)
• 6 – Onions
• 2 tbsp – Jaggery
• 1 tsp – Salt

Method:

  1. Cut fish into pieces, wash and apply a little salt and keep it aside.
  2. Grind chillies garlic, cumin, dry coriander and 3 onions finely chopped.
  3. Heat oil and fry 3 tbsp. finely chopped onions until brown. 
  4. Then add the masala and fry well; add salt and jaggery and fry for a while; then add gram flour, fry and add 2 cups water, bring it to a boil.
  5. Wash the fish and add the masala with tamarind water and chopped coriander.
  6. Cook on slow fire until fish is cooked and oil float on top.
  7. Serve with yellow rice or khichdi.
  8. A few green chillies may be added, if preferred hot.
