Ingredients:
• 2 cups – Rice flour
• 1/2 cup – Maida
• 1/4 cup – gram flour
• 3 tbsp – Channa dal (soaked in hot water for 30 mins)
• 1 tbsp – sesame seeds
• 1 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1/4 tsp – Asafoetida powder
• 2 tbsp – hot oil
• Salt to taste
• Oil for Deep Frying
Method:
- Mix all the flours in a large bowl, add hot oil, salt, asafoetida powder, chilli powder and mix well.
- Add soaked channa dal, sesame seeds and knead everything into a soft dough. Make small balls from the dough.
- Take 2 zip lock bags and grease them with oil on one side each. Place the dough ball in between the greased bags and press it using a poori press.
- Or press it with hands.
- Deep Fried the nippattu (prick it with a fork while frying to prevent it from puffing) until they turn golden brown.
