Ingredients:

• To boil: 2 tsp – Tamarind juice
• Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
• 2 tsp – salt
• 3 cups – water
• 2 – Tomatoes
• 1 tbsp – cooked Toor Dal
• Charu podi or rasam powder (to taste)
• To season:
• 1/2 tsp – Ghee
• 1/2 tsp- Fenugreek seeds
• 1/4 tsp – Urad Dal
• 1/4 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 1/4 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 1 – dry Red Chilli
• 1/2 tsp – Asafoetida
• Coriander leaves – 1/2 bunch

Method:

  1. Bring all the ingredients listed in step 1 to a boil.
  2. Then add charu podi or rasam powder, and bring back to a boil.
  3. Meanwhile, in a vessel, add all the seasoning ingredients. Let them splutter.
  4. Then add them to the boiling charu.
  5. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve either as a soup or with rice.
