
Ingredients:
• 1.5 cup – mixed dal (Tuar, Masoor, Urad, Moong and Chana dal in equal quantity)
• 1 – large Onion (chopped)
• 2 tsp – Garlic (chopped)
• 2 – Tomatoes (chopped)
• 2 – Green chilli (chopped)
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp – Red Chilli powder (optional)
• 1/2 tsp – desi Ghee
• salt to taste
• For Tadka (Tempering):
• 1/2 tbsp – desi Ghee (clarified butter)
• a pinch – Asafoetida
• 3 – whole Red Chillies
Method:
- Soak mix dal for one hour. Heat desi ghee in a pressure cooker. Put chopped onions, garlic and green chilli and fry for two minutes.
- Add chopped tomatoes and fry for a min
- Add dal, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt and adjust water.
- Close the lid and cook for 6 whistles.
- When cooked, add tadka.
- Serve hot roti or rice.
