Ingredients:

• 1 bowl – Rice flour
• 2 bowls – fresh, grated Coconut
• 1/2 bowl – Jaggery
• 2 pinches – Cardamom powder
• 1 bowl – water
• 1 tsp – Ghee
• 1 pinch – salt

Method:

  1. For stuffing (saran):
  2. Mix grated coconut and jaggery and cook on slow flame till it becomes dry.
  3. Add cardamom powder and keep aside.
  4. For covering (ukad):
  5. Boil water in a non-stick pan, add ghee, salt and rice flour.
  6. Mix well. Cover the pan with a lid for 5 mins.
  7. Move the dough to a plate and knead.
  8. Take some dough, shape it like a bowl.
  9. Stuff coconut mixture in it. Cover it and shape it into modaks.
  10. Steam all modaks for 10 mins the way you steam idlis.
  11. Serve hot with desi ghee.
