
Ingredients:
• Rice – 200 g
• Peas – 2 cups
• Onion – 2 (medium sized)
• Tomatoes – 1 (big)
• Green chillies – 4 (
• Ginger Garlic paste – 1 tsp
• Star anise – 1
• Maratti moggu – 1/2 inch
• Cinnamon – a small piece
• Clove – 1
• Cardamom – 1
• Bay Leaf – 1
• Oil/Ghee – 4 tbsp
• salt to taste
• Turmeric powder – 1 pinch
• Water to cook
• Curry leaves and chopped coriander to garnish
Method:
- Wash the rice and set aside.
- Heat oil/ghee in a pressure cooker. Add star anise, martin moggu, cinnamon, clove, cardamom, bay leaf and splutter.
- Add ginger garlic paste, and fry.
- Add sliced onions and saute well.
- Add green chillies. Continue sauteing.
- Add tomatoes, stir well and cook.
- Add turmeric powder and continue cooking.
- Once it thickens, add green peas and mix well.
- Add salt and cook for a few minutes.
- Add washed rice and stir well. Sprinkle chopped curry leaves.
- Add enough water to immerse all these contents, stir again and close the lid. Cook up to 2-3 whistles.
- Add coriander leaves, stir well.
- Serve hot with onion raitha or cucumber raita.
