Ingredients:

• 1 kg Potato
• 4 cups Maida
• 2 tsp chilli powder
• 2 tsp Cumin seeds
• 4 tbsps Butter
• Oil to deep fry
• Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Boil the potatoes and mash them well.
  2. Tie the Maida in a thin cloth and steam it for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Open the bundle and break the lump while hot with a ladle.
  4. When it is slightly cooled, powder it with your fingers and sift.
  5. Mix the sifted Maida with mashed potato.
  6. Add rest of the ingredients except the oil.
  7. Add enough water and make a soft but not sticky dough.
  8. Take small portions of the dough and flatten them into disc shapes.
  9. Fry the Chaklis, in medium heat until they turn golden brown and crisp.
