Ingredients:

• 2 -onions
• 2- Brinjals
• salt
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 cup – dal
• 1 tsp – coriander
• 2 – Red Chillies
• 1/2 – coconut, grated
• 2 tbsp – oil
• 1 tsp -mustard seed
• 1 tsp -asafoetida
• Curry leaves

Method:

  1. Cut onion and brinjal into small cubes, wash and keep aside.
  2. Wash dal, cook it with salt and turmeric powder.
  3. Now add brinjal and onion into the dal.
  4. When dal is cooked, keep it aside.
  5. Roast whole coriander, red chillies, coconut and grind them together.
  6. Add ground spices into cooked dal and vegetables.
  7. For tempering, heat oil in a pan add mustard seed, asafoetida (hing) and curry leaves.
  8. Fry it for 5 mins and pour it evenly over cooked dal.
  9. Serve hot with plain rice or chapatti.
