Ingredients:
• 250 g – boiled and peeled Potatoes
• 1 – small onion, minced
• 1/4 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 1 tsp – Urad Dal
• 2 – green chillies, minced
• handful of Coriander leaves
• a few curry leaves, sliced
• 1/4 tsp – Turmeric powder
• a pinch of Asafoetida
• 1.5 cups – gram flour
• salt and chilli powder to taste
Method:
- Heat 1 tbsp. of oil and put in mustard seeds and dal. When the dal turns red, put in chillies, onion and curry leaves and cook till soft.
- Add potatoes, salt, turmeric and coriander leaves.
- Mix well and remove from fire. Cool and form into round balls.
- Mix together gram flour, asafoetida, salt and chilli powder.
- Put in enough water to form a thick batter.
- Dip the balls one by one into the batter and deep fry to a golden brown colour.
- Drain and serve with chutney of your choice.
