Ingredients:

• 2 cups – rolled oats (dry roasted)
• 1/2 cup – Toor Dal (cooked)
• Salt
• 1 tsp – Oil
• 1/2 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 1/2 tsp – Urad Dal
• 2 – Dry Red Chillies
• A pinch – Asafoetida powder
• A few Curry leaves
• 1 – Onion (chopped finely)
• 2 – Tomatoes (chopped)
• 1 tsp – Sambar powder
• 1 tsp – Lemon juice
• A few chopped Coriander leaves

Method:

  1. Heat enough oil in a pressure cooker.
  2. Sputter mustard seeds and urad dal. Add the asafoetida powder, dry red chillies, curry leaves and fry them.
  3. Now add the chopped onions, chopped tomatoes and cook until the onions turns translucent and tomatoes turns mushy.
  4. Immediately add the sambar powder, cooked toor dal and three cups of water.
  5. Cook everything for a few minutes.
  6. Stir in the rolled oats, close the pressure cooker and cook for one whistle.
  7. Once the steam gets released, add chopped coriander leaves, lemon juice to the oats sambar bath and give it a stir.
