Ingredients:

• 1 tbsp – oil
• 1/2 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 1 – red chilli, broken
• 2 – onions, chopped
• 3/4 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1/2 tsp – salt (or to taste)
• 1 tsp – Tamarind paste or 3 tsp Tamarind juice
• 1 tsp – Jaggery
• 2 tbsp – water

Method:

  1. In a pan, heat oil.
  2. Add mustard seeds. When they begin to pop, add broken red chilli.
  3. Add chopped onion and fry till golden colour.
  4. Add red chilli powder, tamarind paste or juice, jaggery, salt to taste and water.
  5. Cover with a lid and cook on a low heat for 10 – 12 minutes or until done and thickens.
  6. Serve with Rice – Rotis – Dosa.
