
Ingredients:
• 1 cup – Channa dal
• 1 cup – thinly sliced Onions
• 1 tbsp – finely chopped Fenugreek leaves or dill leaves
• 1 piece – Cinnamon stick
• 2-3 – Cardamoms
• 2 – Cloves
• 1 – Bay Leaf
• 1 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp – pepper powder
• 1 tsp – Lemon juice
• 1/2 tsp – Sugar
• 2 tbsp – Ghee
• salt – to taste
Method:
- Clean and soak dal for 15 mins. Boil with turmeric powder and salt with 5 cups water till soft and drain the water.
- Heat ghee in a pan and add cinnamon, cardamom, clove, cumin seeds.
- Add onions and fry till light brown.
- Add dal, sugar, pepper powder, lemon juice, bay leaves and fenugreek leaves.
- Stir gently. Do not mash up dal too much.
- Serve hot with paratha, naan, rice etc.
