Ingredients:

• 1.5 cups – diced crust of bread
• 1/2 pint – Milk
• 1 Egg (beaten)
• 1 tbsp. – seedless Raisins
• 2 tbsp. – Sugar
• vanilla essence
• custard sauce
• Ingredients for the custard sauce:
• 2 eggs
• 1/2 pint Milk
• 1 dessert spoon Sugar
• A few drops of vanilla essence

Method:

  1. Combine milk, egg, sugar and few drops of vanilla essence.
  2. Place the bread and raisins in a basin and pour in the milk mixture.
  3. Cover with a cloth and steam for 1.5 hours.
  4. Serve with custard sauce.
  5. For custard sauce:
  6. Boil the milk. Beat eggs and sugar together and pour the boiling milk over the mixture, stirring all the time.
  7. Return to the saucepan and stir until the mixture thickens. Serve.
