Ingredients:

• 10 cups – all-purpose flour
• 2 1/2 cups – buttermilk
• 5 tbsp -butter or margarine, melted
• 2 eggs
• 2 1/2 cups – Sugar
• 1/2 cup – sour Cream
• 1 tsp – vanilla extract
• 3 tsp – baking soda
• 1/2 tsp – ground Nutmeg
• confectioner’s Sugar
• oil for deep-fat frying
• 1 tsp – salt

Method:

  1. In a large bowl, beat eggs and add sugar, sour cream, butter and vanilla.
  2. Combine flour, baking soda, salt and nutmeg.
  3. Add to sour cream mixture alternately with buttermilk.
  4. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; roll to 1/4-in thickness.
  5. Cut with a 2-1/2-in. doughnut cutter.
  6. In an electric skillet or deep-fat fryer, heat oil to 375 degrees F.
  7. Fry doughnuts, a few at a time, until golden, about 2 minutes; turn once with a slotted spoon.
  8. Drain on paper towels.
  9. Dust with confectioners’ sugar.
