
Ingredients:
• 425g – cooked garbanzo beans (chick peas)
• 110g – vermicelli/ noodles
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1.5 tsp – ground black pepper
• 1 tsp – ground Cinnamon
• 1/4 tsp – ground Ginger
• 1/4 tsp – cayenne pepper
• 2 tsp – butter/margarine
• 3/4 cup – chopped Celery
• 2 – Onion chopped
• 1/2 cup – chopped fresh Coriander leaves
• 800g – diced Tomatoes
• 7 cups – water
• 3/4 cup – green lentils
• Juice of 1 Lime
• Salt, to taste
Method:
- In a pan heat butter and saute the onions till wilted. Add the celery, ginger, turmeric powder, cinnamon, pepper, coriander leaves and mix well. Saute for 2 minutes.
- Add the diced tomatoes, mix well and let it simmer for 15 minutes. Add water and lentils and simmer till the lentils are cooked.
- Add the cooked chick peas, salt and noodles and cook further 10 minutes till noodles are ‘al dente’. Stir in the lime juice and cook for a minute.
- Serve hot immediately.
