Ingredients:
• 4 cups – Maida or all purpose flour
• 1 cup – Urad Dal (fried without oil)
• 1 tsp – sesame seeds or Cumin seeds
• Asafoetida little powder
• 1 tsp – Butter
• salt to taste
• oil for frying
Method:
- Steam the Maida flour in cooker for 2 whistles or in microwave for 8 minutes without adding water with the flour.
- Mix urad dal powder, steamed maida flour, butter, salt, asafetida powder, sesame seeds and make a dough out of this by adding small quantity of water.
- Keep the dough aside for 20-30 minutes.
- Fill the mullu murruku (Chakli) press with the dough.
- Heat oil in a kadai and when the oil is hot, press the dough onto the oil.
- Cook to a light golden colour or until the hissing sound ceases.
- Remove and drain it on a kitchen paper towel.
- Store it in a dry airtight container.
