Ingredients:
• 1/4 cup – Toor Dal
• 1/4 cup – masoor dal
• 1/4 cup – moong dal
• 2 cups – Cabbage (shredded or chopped finely)
• 1/4 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp – Garam Masala powder
• 1/2 tsp – mustard seeds+urad dal
• 1/4 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 3- dry Red Chillies
• 5- Curry leaves
• 1/4 tsp – Asafoetida powder
• 2 tbsp – Ghee
• Salt
• To grind:
• 2 tbsp – grated Coconut
• 1 tsp- Cumin seeds
• 1 tbsp – peppercorns
Method:
- Grind all the ingredients from the list ‘To Grind’ as fine paste with some water and keep aside.
- Wash the dals and combine the dals and cabbage with enough water in a pressure cooker with turmeric powder and cook for two whistles.
- Once the steam gets released, add the ground paste, salt and garam masala powder with cup of water, cook for few minutes.
- In a another pan, heat the ghee, fry the mustard seeds, urad dal, dry red chillies, cumin seeds and asafoetida powder with curry leaves.
- Add the tempered spices to the cooking dal and switch off the stove.
- Serve hot along with rice and potato roast.
