Ingredients:

• 1/4 cup – Toor Dal
• 1/4 cup – masoor dal
• 1/4 cup – moong dal
• 2 cups – Cabbage (shredded or chopped finely)
• 1/4 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp – Garam Masala powder
• 1/2 tsp – mustard seeds+urad dal
• 1/4 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 3- dry Red Chillies
• 5- Curry leaves
• 1/4 tsp – Asafoetida powder
• 2 tbsp – Ghee
• Salt
• To grind:
• 2 tbsp – grated Coconut
• 1 tsp- Cumin seeds
• 1 tbsp – peppercorns

Method:

  1. Grind all the ingredients from the list ‘To Grind’ as fine paste with some water and keep aside.
  2. Wash the dals and combine the dals and cabbage with enough water in a pressure cooker with turmeric powder and cook for two whistles.
  3. Once the steam gets released, add the ground paste, salt and garam masala powder with cup of water, cook for few minutes.
  4. In a another pan, heat the ghee, fry the mustard seeds, urad dal, dry red chillies, cumin seeds and asafoetida powder with curry leaves.
  5. Add the tempered spices to the cooking dal and switch off the stove.
  6. Serve hot along with rice and potato roast.
