Ingredients:

• 1 – Cucumber
• 1/2 – coconut, grated
• 1 cup – gram dal
• 1 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 7-8 – Red Chillies
• Tamarind
• 1 tsp – Jaggery
• Coriander
• 2 tsp – oil
• 1 tsp – mustard
• Curry leaves
• Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Peel the cucumber and cut it into small pieces.
  2. Heat 1 tsp of oil in a kadai and fry the gram dal, cumin seeds and the chillies till brown in colour.
  3. Now add the coconut, salt, tamarind, jaggery and mix with the fried spices. Grind into a slightly coarse paste.
  4. Finally, add the chopped cucumber and coriander, grind coarsely.
  5. Heat 1 tsp oil and splutter curry leaves and mustard. Add this to the chutney.
