Ingredients:

• 1 cup (200 ml) – water
• 1 tsp – coriander powder
• 1/2 tsp – Jeera (cumin seeds) powder
• 1/4 tsp – Fenugreek powder (methi / uluva podi)
• 1/4 tsp – fennel powder or 1/2 tsp – Fennel seeds
• 1 chopped Onion
• 6 Cloves -chopped Garlic
• 1/2 tsp – chopped Ginger
• 1 Cinnamon stick
• 1 sprig Curry leaves
• 1 Bay Leaf
• Salt to taste
• A pinch of Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp – Lemon grass (optional)
• 75 ml – thick Coconut Milk
• 2 tsp – Lemon juice

Method:

  1. Cover and boil water with all the other ingredients except coconut milk and lemon juice for 15 minutes.
  2. Switch off the heat. Keep aside to cool for 15 minutes.
  3. Finally add coconut milk and lemon juice.
  4. Serve with idiyappam (string hoppers)/ghee rice/plain rice.
