
Ingredients:
• 1 cup – whole green gram
• 1.5 cups – Basmati Rice
• 4 – onions, chopped fine
• 2 tbsp – Butter
• 2 tbsp – oil
• 1 tsp – Ginger Garlic paste
• 1 tsp – Garam Masala
• 1 tsp – cumin powder
• 1 -2 tsp – Red Chilli flakes
• 1 tbsp – Coriander leaves
• Salt to taste
Method:
- Cook the lentils and rice (in three cups of water) separately till cooked, but not mushy.
- Heat oil and butter, add the onions and fry them till they are brown. Stir frequently to avoid burning.
- Once they are brown, drain them in a napkin and keep aside.
- In the left over oil in the pan, add ginger garlic paste and cook for a minute.
- Add cumin powder, garam masala, salt followed by half of the fried onions, lentils, chilli flakes and rice.
- Gently mix everything together and turn off the heat.
- Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle the rest of the fried onions and chopped coriander leaves on top.
- Serve with plain yogurt or raita.
