
Ingredients:
• Potato – 1 cup, peeled and chopped
• Palak (spinach) – 1 cup, chopped
• Onion – 1/2 cup, chopped
• Green chilli 1 (discard seed)
• cumin powder – 1 tsp
• coriander powder – 1/2 tsp Cinnamon powder – 1/2 tsp
• Ginger – 3 cm piece (do not chop)
• water or stock 1.5 litre
• Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
• Mint leaves – 1 tbsp
• Butter – 2 tbsp
• shah Jeera – 1 tsp
• Lime slices to garnish
• pepper to taste
• salt to taste
Method:
- Combine potato, onion, green chili and all the powders and ginger.
- Add stock and simmer till potato is well cooked.
- Add spinach, coriander and mint leaves.
- Simmer for 10 more minutes.
- Cool the mixture.
- Discard ginger and blend in a mixer.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Just before serving, melt the butter and fry shahjeera for few seconds and add to shorba.
- Heat thoroughly and serve garnished with lime slices.
