Ingredients:

• 500 g – Palak (spinach)
• 100 g – maag daal (split green gram)
• 30 g – groundnut oil
• 15 g – Green chillies
• 100 g – tomatoes, finely chopped
• 5 g – ginger, crushed
• 5 g – Asafoetida
• salt to taste

Method:

  1. Wash and chop spinach into shreds.
  2. Wash and soak green gram for 1 hour.
  3. Heat oil in a pan.
  4. Add asafoetida, green chillies, ginger and tomatoes.
  5. Add green gram with enough water. Cook till soft.
  6. Add spinach and salt. Best served with plain rice.
