Ingredients:

• Raw Rice – 2 cups
• Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
• Oil – 1/4 cup
• Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
• Bengal Gram – 3/4 tbsp
• Urad Dal – 3/4 tsp
• Curry leaves – a few
• Dried red chilli – 6-8
• Lemon – 1
• Salt to taste.

Method:

  1. Cook the rice in a bowl until tender.
  2. Add salt to it and let it cool.
  3. Fluff the rice gently with a fork to separate the grains.
  4. In a small bowl, add turmeric, salt, lemon juice, a little asafetida and mix well.
  5. Pour this on the rice and keep aside.
  6. Heat oil in a kadai and splutter the mustard seeds.
  7. Then add the bengal gram and urad dal.
  8. Fry till golden brown.
  9. Add the curry leaves and red chillies.
  10. Stir well.
  11. Pour this over the rice.
  12. Mix well and serve hot.
