Ingredients:

• 1.5 cups – Maida
• 1/2 cup – cocoa
• 1/2 tsp – baking powder
• 1/2 tsp – baking soda
• 1/2 tsp – salt
• 1.5 cups – castor Sugar
• 1/2 cup – Butter
• 2 – eggs, separated
• 1 tsp – vanilla essence
• 1 cup – buttermilk

Method:

  1. Sieve maida, cocoa, baking powder and soda, salt and keep aside.
  2. Mix egg yolks, butter and sugar.
  3. Add little buttermilk and fold it in.
  4. Add little of the maida mix and mix it in.
  5. Continue this alternating buttermilk and maida mix till both are used up.
  6. Add well-beaten egg whites and mix.
  7. Bake at 250 degrees C for about 40 minutes.
