Ingredients:
• 1 cup moong dal, soaked for 1 hour
• For the seasoning:
• Oil – 1 tbsp
• Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tbsp
• Cumin seeds – 1/2 tbsp
• Red Chillies – 7 to 8
• Asafoetida – 1/2 tsp
• Tamarind – 2 inches
• A few Coriander leaves
• Salt to taste
Method:
- In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds. Allow it to crackle.
- Add cumin seeds, asafoetida and red chillies. Let it cool.
- Put the seasoning in the mixer with the soaked moong dal, tamarind, coriander leaves and salt.
- Grind it to a smooth paste.
- Serve with chapattis or rice.
